As I write Boris Johnson has just been made Prime Minister Elect by the Conservative party after
46 days of campaigning around the country and multiple hustings carried out on a turn of 87.4%.
Mr Johnson has claimed victory with 92,153 votes to his name. Mr Johnson has lead a dire campaign
from the very start, not even a day into it police were called to the Prime Minister Elects house in
London after a disturbance was reported by neighbors. After which the aforementioned neighbors
sustained days of abuse from right wing tabloids. To dampen speculation of a rift between
Mr. Johnson and his partner Carrie Symonds posed for an awkward intimate photo in the country slide.

So what manner of man is our new Prime MInister? Just who is going to be our First Lord Of the
Treasury. The Prime Minister elect has enjoyed over the past few years an almost cult like celebrity
status both in print and TV he has hosted Have I got News For You, has been a journalist for The
Times and The Telegraph and written a book on Winston Churchill. I have long harbored suspicions
that Mr. Johnson views himself as a Churchill type figure who thinks he’s a grand statesman however
he comes across more like Donald Trump.

Why Donald Trump you ask? Well the likeness is striking both were seen at the start of the decade
as people who weren’t destined for high office, who were sneered at and reviled by us on the left.
However the laughing has stopped now and we are sobering up to reality. In other comparisons to
Trump both men say the first thing that comes into their head without engaging their brains. In recent
days Trump has told female senators to go home a classic racist trope and our Prime Minister Elect
has referred to Muslim women who wear the burqa as letterbox’s.

This will be the first time in modern memory that a Prime Minister will be living at No.10 who is
potentially still married to his wife Marina Wheeler (throughout his campaign he hasn’t opened up about
his personal life so we can only speculate) will be living with his partner Carrie Symonds.
Mr Johnson's personal life is very chaotic he won't admit to how many children he has for example.

We have no idea what our Prime Minister Elect’s domestic program will be he has been very vague
the speech that he gave to the party faithful at the Queen Elizabeth 2 conference centre he made
mutterings about fiber broadband but that was it. Mr. Johnson's Brexit plans are also very chaotic
he intends to leave the EU on the 31st of October come what may even without a deal. This will be
very bad for the country as to follow GATT which he is intent on doing he wants to stay in paragraph
24 section B we will also need to follow section C. When pressed if Mr Johnson knew how to get
around Section C by Andrew Neil he admitted he didn’t know what it was. This is a worrying concept
that he won’t read his briefs properly and will be ill prepared to actually run the country.
Nazanin Zaghari- Ratcliffe is still locked away in Iran because of his blundering and failure to prepare
himself properly bluster and sidestepping issues will work to some degree at the hustings but it won’t work when he is in No. 10 he will be scrutinized and held to account far more now. There will be nowhere to hide at the dispatch box.

So as our Prime Minister elect gets the keys to No. 10 Downing street from the Queen tomorrow he
will have the shortest (if at all) honeymoons of any modern time Prime Minister he will be plunged into
Brexit, the situation with Iran and a very likely recession in the Autumn.Mr Johnson has talked the
talk and wanted this job his whole life will he make good on his innuendo and walk the walk.
There has been talk in the Westminster community that Mr.Johnson will have a fight on his hands
from the get go. Senior minsters have already said that they will resign if Mr. Johnson becomes
Prime Minister, David Gauke, Phillip Hammond, Sir Alan Duncan and Anne Milton are all or will be
leaving the front line out of protest. So will we see a mass exodus of reamin voting MP's from the
conservatives going away and joining the Lib Dem's finishing the Conservatives off for generations
or will Mr. Johnson unite the warring factions of the party and bring some unity to it?

But what ever happens we will need to have a general election. Mr. Johnson was very critical of Gordon Brown coming to power in 2007 he saw it as a coronation and a fait accompli. How can a party that has famously said that we need to listen to the will of the people elect a person to be leader of a party where only members can vote for him? So if Mr Johnson claims to be a true democrat then he will need to go to the country and face Jeremy Corbyn and the newly appointed Jo Swinson as head of the Lib Dem's to ask the country for a mandate.
